What we do

Design and Facilitation

Design and Facilitation

Guiding a shared direction

Guiding a shared direction

Using coffee as a medium for dialogue and exchange, we turn conversations into collaborations. Each engagement takes its own shape, whether origin experiences, learning journeys, or curated spaces within coffee trade shows.

The Spirit of Coffee

Coffee trade reimagined

The Spirit of Coffee was developed in partnership with AFCA – African Fine Coffees Association to introduce East African coffee communities to international buyers. Rather than focusing only on transactions, the initiative creates opportunities for cooperatives, exporters, roasters, and industry partners to engage more openly around the realities and future of coffee.

Through facilitated workshops, we help producers build relationships, tell their stories, and sell their coffee. Origin trips bring buyers and producers together to experience the realities of coffee firsthand, building long-term relationships grounded in learning and shared values.

Agent Coffee

Piloting AI for a more equitable
coffee sector
Piloting AI for a more
equitable coffee sector

Agent Coffee is piloting AI-powered approaches to help producer organizations navigate a rapidly changing coffee landscape. Rather than viewing AI as simply a technological tool, we approach it as a systems partner - one that can strengthen relationships, enhance transparency, and expand knowledge sharing across the coffee sector.

Through partnerships with organizations including Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA), Progreso Foundation, Helios AI, and Carnegie Mellon University, we are exploring how AI systems can be grounded in the lived realities of producers and informed by the complexities of supply chains.

The East Africa
Coffee Lab

Coffee trade reimagined

Thirty+ cooperatives across six countries — Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, DR Congo, Tanzania, and Malawi — each finding their way to the global specialty market on their own terms. Our cupping and training lab in Kigali is the anchor: a place where quality is tested, stories are documented, and cooperatives prepare for what the market asks of them. We captured years of training into a Coffee Playbook series, practical guides on everything from sample preparation to conference navigation.

Agent Coffee

Piloting AI for a more
equitable coffee sector

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how societies organize, how decisions are made, and how power moves through economic and social systems. In the coffee sector, AI is emerging at a moment of profound transition as climate volatility intensifies, political and economic uncertainty grows, and traditional sustainability and development models face increasing pressure.

Agent Coffee pilots AI powered approaches designed to help producer organizations navigate this changing landscape. Rather than treating AI as simply a technological tool, we approach it as a systemic force that will influence relationships, transparency, and knowledge sharing, across the coffee sector.

Through partnerships with organizations including COSA, Progreso Foundation, Beyco, Helios AI, and Carnegie Mellon University we are piloting how AI systems can be designed with a coffee consciousness to support more regenerative and relational trade systems.
